Although GEN-I was again voted one of the best energy traders in Europe, we know that this is not just about numbers and ‘league tables’. It is above all a recognition of the people behind our results - our day-to-day operations, our cooperation, and the energy we invest in each other.
We achieved superb results again in this year’s Energy Risk Commodity Rankings, scooping the title of Best Power Dealer in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. We also placed second in the Best Overall Energy Dealer and Best Overall Power Dealer. For us, this is testament above all to the trust that the market and our partners place in us. And we continue to build that trust every day, together.
Our team is the biggest award we could have
At GEN-I we believe that success is never down to one person. It is the result of the work of a highly interconnected team of traders, analysts, IT specialists, and support services whose members trust each other, work together and share responsibility. What binds us is curiosity, ambition, and the desire to develop both professionally and personally.
We work in an international environment, learn from each other and frequently find that our knowledge and experience catch the eye of the wider profession in Europe. We take that as confirmation that we are working well, and as motivation to go even further.
As a team, we have made great strides forward in the last 12 months, entering the new markets of the USA, Belgium, the UK, and the Netherlands, as well as laying the foundations for new battery energy storage system projects. However, in the midst of these processes we have not lost sight of what is most important to us: a feeling of connection, agility, and common endeavour.
We believe it is important, as an organisation grows, to maintain a culture of cooperation and trust between teams despite the complexities that change brings. This enables us to push boundaries and achieve ambitious targets.
Recognition as an incentive not an end in itself
We see international recognition and awards as a reward for the work we have done up to now, but also as a responsibility. The bar is a high one, and it is that fact that spurs us onwards and upwards – not for the sake of winning itself, but because we wish to maintain the standards of which we are proud.
The greatest recognition we can have is our own: that we are able to build, from Slovenia, a strong, internationally competitive and interconnected team that can stand comparison with the biggest energy-sector players in Europe.
